Dear Choir Family
I wanted to take a moment to congratulate all of you on the phenomenal success of our recent "Back to the 80s" concert at the Seymour Centre. Your hard work, dedication, and passion truly shone through in every performance, and I couldn't be prouder to be your Music Director.
The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the energy, heart, and joy that each of you brought to the stage:
The Sydney Arts Guide highlighted the inclusiveness and diversity on display, noting the choir's vibrant costumes and the enthusiastic performances that made the evening a "wholesome entertainment" experience.
The South Sydney Herald lauded our ability to capture the essence of the 80s, from heartfelt ballads to energetic anthems, and pointed out the audience's delight at our colourful costumes and engaging performances.
Special mentions were given to the outstanding solo performances and the creative touches, like the re-enactments of iconic music videos, which added an extra layer of fun and excitement to the show. The effort and enthusiasm from each member did not go unnoticed, and it was clear that everyone in the audience felt the powerful sense of community and inclusivity that defines our choir. Congrats to our soloists: Andrew, James B, James W, Matthew, Sally and Ty; to our Material Girl danceurs, Ms Carmen Cider (Mike Tham), and her beaux, Nathan, Stefano and Zephyrus; to our team of glorious Gloria dancers; and to the incomparable Stefano, choreographer extraordinaire. Of course, big thanks to the legend that is Kane Wheatley, and our stellar band, Graeme, Mick, Paul and Stevie! What a privilege sharing the stage with you all.
Behind the scenes, a cast of many, but with special mention owing to Kt Harvey, Sarah Moore and their volunteer team, the fabulous and patient Terry Ryan, and the special services of Nadine Lee, Daniel Bourke and the SAE videography team, and the delightful Seymour Centre team. The efforts of all are invaluable - we are far more than the sum of our parts!
As we look forward to our next project, "Echoes of Pride," let's carry this momentum and continue to share our love for music and our message of harmony and acceptance. Thank you all for your incredible performances and for making "Back to the 80s" a night to remember.
Warm regards,
Adam Majsay

|
Dear SGLC friends,
Congratulations on a totally rad, bodacious, epic and hella wicked 80s concert!
For something completely different, please consider a trip to Allambie Heights (where??) this Saturday night 22 June for a very special performance featuring amazing trio Third Voice, and the Sydney Women’s Vocal Orchestra. SWVO was created to perform the story of the choir in the prisoner of war camp - the true story which was the inspiration for the movie Paradise Road. It’s a moving and uplifting experience and this is the one and only Sydney performance. Tickets here: https://humphhall.org/index.php/upcoming-events/sydney/ Please come!
Cheers
